Rekainos Labs

Creators, building for creators.

Rekainos Labs didn't start as a product. It started as the studio we needed for our own work.

We make things

Before we were a company, we were creators. Our founder, Oba, has written five books, speaks and teaches. Our team produces film, writes stories and works with ideas for a living.

We know the feeling of finishing something you're proud of and wanting it to reach people in a form they'll actually take in. For more and more people, that form is sound.

The library that needed a voice

Our first product is Rekainos, a book app built on one idea: people read nonfiction to change, but reading alone rarely changes anyone. So we turn each book into something you can live with: a brief, a map of its chapters, practices that make it stick, and a story, a five-act dramatisation of the book's ideas.

We set out to do that for 2,500 books. Every story had to be heard, not just read. That meant narration at a scale we'd never seen anyone attempt, with the quality of a performance.

The tools we tried read words. We needed performances.

Nothing worked the way we work

Every voice tool we tried gave us the same thing: the right words in a flat, even line. Long passages lost their thread halfway through. There was no way to tell a narrator to slow down for the line that matters, to whisper, to wait. And paying by the character made a library of books feel impossible.

We didn't want a text reader. We wanted a director's chair.

So we built our own

We built a studio for ourselves. Scripts you can direct with simple tags. Narration voiced line by line with the lines around it in mind, so a chapter holds together. Real silence where a pause belongs. Productions handled chapter by chapter, with music and sound beneath the voice.

Then the books asked for more. A story needed a score under it, a cover, a scene you could see, a moment that moved. So we added music, sound, images and video, one need at a time.

We used it every day, on our own books, and fixed whatever got in our way. Most of what you'll find in Rekainos Labs exists because one of us needed it at the time.

Why we're sharing it

Somewhere along the way we realised the studio wasn't only ours. Authors who want their books heard, teachers recording lessons, podcasters, small studios: they're all where we were, wanting more than a reader and less than a recording booth.

So we're opening it up, and we'll keep sharing the tools we build for ourselves as we build them. Talking presenters and short films are next, because they're next for us too.

What we hold to

A voice belongs to a person. Nobody's voice is cloned without that person recording their consent, in their own voice.

Your work is yours. On paid plans, what you make is yours to publish and sell.

Prices you can understand. Plans are counted in minutes of finished speech. Failed generations are refunded automatically.
